Grecian Oil Painting

GRECIAN OIL PAINTING.

A very beautiful effect may be produced by taking any lithograph print, rubbing it over with a solution of turpentine and balsam copabia until the paper becomes transparent ; then placing the print between folds of soft paper, to absorb the surplus balsam ; lay the face to a glass of convenient size and set it before a window ; paint with transparent colors, ground in drying oil, in imita-tion of the natural colors, as near as possible ; when dry back up the print with paper.

These colors can be put on in a careless manner and when viewed from the front it will have the appearance of a rich oil painting on canvass.
