Three are three types of exterior wall materials in Auckland: wooden board (grinded and the original with texture), plaster (fiber cement board) and hardie (simulated wooden board by cement board).
This Massey house is hardie cladding exterior. Maintenance on the fiber cement board (hardie) is very easy. Apart from washing, sealant may be used in case of the joint crack. However, the glue will leave un ugly scar there. The best solution is to fill it with the fine cement together with sand. And then make the surface texture very similar to the surrounding. After painting, you may not find out the crack. Therefore, we recommend you not you buy a house when the painting was just done. Paint workers can process cracks and other traces as they have not been there. The third type of wall board is easier. The cement board doesn’t require maintenance. Sometime, any worn edges can be fixed. For the cement board, we make repairing by cement. After applying painting, you cannot see any indifference.
